When you are stuck

QUESTION
When one friend is stuck in crisis, do you keep circling the same problem—or stop together and ask Father God for help, wisdom, and the next right step?

STORY
Three friends had been praying for months about Kevin’s marriage pain.

Same tension.
Same arguments.
Same discouragement.
Same fear that nothing would change.

Each week, Kevin talked through the latest painful conversation. His friends listened, cared, and offered thoughts. But one morning, they realized they were mostly rehashing the problem.

One friend finally said, “Let’s stop trying to solve this ourselves and ask God what’s stuck.”

So they slowed down.

They asked Father God for wisdom.
They asked for humility.
They asked for courage.
They asked for timing.
They asked God to show Kevin what was his to own and what was not his to control.

Kevin did not get an instant fix. But he did sense one next step: call a counselor and ask his wife for a calm conversation without defending himself.

That mattered.

The breakthrough began when the huddle stopped spinning and started seeking Father God together.

That is crisis teamwork. Not pretending friends can fix everything. Not giving up when things are stuck. Brothers carrying the burden, asking God for help, and supporting one faithful next step.

SCRIPTURE
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault.” — James 1:5

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” — Jeremiah 33:3

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and he will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

Some problems are too tangled for human effort alone. Father God does not shame sons for needing help. He invites them to ask.

EXAMINE SELF
When a problem stays stuck, what do I usually do?

Do I talk in circles?
Do I try harder in my own strength?
Do I give the same advice again?
Do I get hopeless?
Do I blame others?
Do I avoid asking God directly?
Do I resist the next step He may be showing me?

Ask yourself: “Are we processing this with God, or just talking about God from a distance?”

QUOTE
“When a huddle gets stuck, stop circling the problem and start asking Father God for wisdom.” — Jeff Kemp

TIP
Ask God specific questions together.

Try:

“Father, what are we missing?”
“What is stuck?”
“What does he need to own?”
“What is outside his control?”
“What wise help is needed?”
“What step of obedience fits this week?”
“What truth from Your Word anchors him right now?”

Then pause. Listen. Open Scripture. Pray again.

CONFESS / REPENT
Father, I confess that I can talk about problems longer than I pray about them. I can rely on my advice, effort, or control instead of asking You for wisdom. Forgive me. Teach me to seek You first, listen humbly, and obey the next step You show.

COACHING
A crisis can get stuck.

The marriage conversation does not improve.
The temptation pattern keeps repeating.
The grief stays heavy.
The job pressure keeps squeezing.
The family conflict keeps resurfacing.
The same issue dominates the huddle week after week.

That is when friends need to shift from rehashing to seeking.

Crisis teamwork is not just talking harder. It is asking God for what human effort cannot produce.

A good huddle can say:

“We love you.”
“We’re not giving up.”
“We may be going in circles.”
“Let’s ask Father God for wisdom.”
“What is one step He may be showing?”

Be careful not to force a dramatic answer. God often leads through Scripture, wise counsel, honest conviction, outside help, timing, and one faithful next step.

Sometimes the next step is repentance.
Sometimes it is forgiveness.
Sometimes it is counseling.
Sometimes it is confession.
Sometimes it is rest.
Sometimes it is a hard conversation.
Sometimes it is waiting without quitting.

Core friends do not need to manufacture breakthrough. They need to carry the burden, pray with faith, and help a brother obey what God makes clear.

ACTION STEP
In your next huddle, ask:
“Where are we stuck?”

Then ask:
“What do we need to ask Father God for specifically?”

Choose one stuck place. Pray directly. Listen. Name one next faithful step.

TALK & PRAY WITH FRIENDS
Ask your huddle:
“When you are stuck, what helps you stop spinning and seek God?”

Then ask:
“What is one issue we need to bring to Father God more directly?”

Pray:
“Father, we need Your wisdom. Show us what is stuck, what is ours to own, what is outside our control, and what next step You are leading us to take. Help us trust You and obey.”

COMMITMENT
I will not keep circling stuck problems in my own strength. I will ask Father God for help with my friends.

HABIT
Name what’s stuck.
Ask God specifically.
Open the Word.
Listen together.
Choose one next step.
Follow up.

TAKEAWAY
When crisis gets stuck, don’t just rehash.
Ask Father God for wisdom.
Carry the burden together.
Listen for one faithful next step.
Sons who ask are not weak. They are wise.
