Week 42: Hear the Father’s Voice in the Word
The Word is more than information. It’s Father God’s voice shaping His sons.

QUESTION

Do you read the Bible as a Christian, or as a son? Is it information to study or your Father’s voice speaking personally to you?

STORY
During his weekly huddle with two friends, Jeffrey admitted, “It’s frustrating. I read and reread the Bible about connection with God, but I just don’t feel very close to Him.”

Ed quietly asked, “When you read Scripture, are you looking for a lesson, or listening as a son for your Father’s voice to you?”

That question changed Jeffrey’s paradigm.

The next week he was reading Romans 8 and stopped at the words, “Abba, Father.”

He didn’t rush. He put himself into it. He received it.

The following week Jeffrey told his friends, “I think I’ve been treating the Word like homework instead of my Perfect Father talking to me.”

From then on they added a new question to every huddle: “What is Father God saying to you through His Word?”

That became one of the most valuable parts of their friendship.

It’s mutual discipleship. Not one guy as the expert or trading religious opinions. Friends helping each other hear, receive, trust, and obey the Father’s voice.

SCRIPTURE
“You received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, ‘Abba, Father.’” — Romans 8:15

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” — Psalm 119:105

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.” — 2 Timothy 3:16

Scripture is far more than content to master. It is God’s living truth to receive, trust, and obey. Our Father wants to speak to His sons. Sons don’t need to perform for the Father’s attention. We listen because we’re loved and follow because we trust the Father’s heart.

EXAMINE SELF
When I open the Bible…

Am I looking mainly for information?

Am I trying to finish a reading plan?

Am I looking for something to teach others?

Or am I slowing down to hear my Father’s voice?

Do I receive His love, correction, encouragement, and direction as His son?

QUOTE
“The Bible is more than God’s truth to study. It’s Father God’s voice to His sons.” — Jeff Kemp

TIP
When you read Scripture, slow down and ask:

“Father, what are You saying to me?”

“What do You want me to receive?”

“What are You inviting me to trust or obey?”

Share it with your friends.

PRAY, CONFESS & REPENT
Father, forgive me for treating Your Word like homework instead of hearing Your voice. Slow me down. Help me receive Your love, truth, and direction as Your son.

COACHING
Mutual discipleship is more than swapping opinions or Bible knowledge. It’s helping each other receive the Father’s voice in the Word and obey as loved sons.

Instead of only asking, “What did you read?” ask,

“What did you hear from Father God?”

“What did you receive?”

“What step is He inviting you to take?”

Core friends go back to the Word, helping each other listen and follow through as sons of a loving Perfect Father.

ACTION STEP
Ask a core friend, “Is there a Scripture Father God is using to speak to you this week?”

Share what you’re reading and what you’re hearing Father God say.

Then pray for one another to approach the Father as sons and hear His voice through His Word.

TALK & PRAY WITH FRIENDS
Ask: “What helps you hear Father God’s voice when you read Scripture?”

“What gets in the way?”

Pray: “Father, teach us to receive Your Word as beloved sons. Help us hear Your voice, trust Your heart, obey Your leading, and encourage one another to keep listening.”

COMMITMENT
I will read Scripture as a son listening to my Father’s voice, not merely as a Christian getting information.

HABIT
Posture as His son.

Read to hear & receive from Abba Father

Reflect & Respond to your Father.

Share & Pray as His son

C3C TAKEAWAY
The Word is Father God’s voice to His sons.

Core friends help one another hear it that way.

Mutual discipleship means helping each other approach, receive, trust, and obey the Father together.
